If they are new to the job, do not refer to them as interns. They are full-fledged employees. You can add a prefix such as “Trainee” to their title, but they are equal to your regular employees. The conditions you include in their appointment order should be acceptable to them. However, you cannot deny them statutory benefits such as provident fund, ESI, bonus, etc. nor can you pay them a salary lower than the minimum wages fixed for the same position in your industry. It is similar to an offer letter with a probation period of 3, 6, or even 12 months. During this probationary period, the probationer’s services can be terminated without notice or reason, and this clause can be included in the letter. You can refer to the remuneration as a stipend, but it should be paid after deducting PF or ESI, as applicable.

A resignation acceptance letter could be adequate if it confirms the termination of employment. Some organisations issue a comprehensive order on the last day of notice. If you could provide the details of the letter, a more definite opinion could be provided. However, since the bank is not willing to issue a separate relieving order, it is important to insist on a ‘No Dues Certificate’. A combination of the NDC certificate and the Resignation Acceptance Letter should be sufficient for any future job opportunities.
